Global Education: IES Enrique Nieto visit Oaks Park

After a two year break, we were finally able to welcome back Spanish students from our partner school IES Enrique Nieto, Melilla. This visit is part of our wider International Schools project ‘Global education - 'Young lives and Education', that runs throughout the school year. This includes exchange visits, pen pals and video conferencing with our partner schools. IES Enrique Nieto students have been visiting Oaks Park since the links were established by Mr. Hawthorne in 2011.
Year 9 students played host to our 50 Spanish visitors. The day started with a language workshop from Mr. Sanz-Ojero where students discussed differences and similarities in the school day. Students practiced their English and Spanish speaking skills before showing the students around the school. Oaks Park students also created a treasure hunt around school for the students - it was a very tight race with the final clue being our school moto ‘Learning together, achieving together’ translated into both Latin and Spanish!
Thank you very much to the MFL team for hosting such a fantastic day and a huge well done to all the students who took part.
