My Hometown Project

On Tuesday, 26th November, four students—Aleyah (Year 12), Lilian (Year 12), Amirah (Year 10), and Yumnah (Year 10)—were invited to showcase their UCL "My Hometown Project" at Portcullis House in Parliament. Their project, which explored the connection between Ilford and the Holocaust through the story of local survivor Leon Greenman, was selected as one of three outstanding research projects. The students presented their work to Lord Pickles of Brentwood and Members of Parliament. Lord Pickles commended the significance of their research, while Dan Tomlinson MP described their film as "powerful and moving." Matthew Patrick MP expressed his deep appreciation for the students' dedication to Holocaust education and remembrance, particularly highlighting Lilian's impactful words.
