First Give Charity Final
On Thursday, 16th January, Oaks Park hosted its first First Give Final, showcasing the efforts of Year 9 students who have been working with the First Give organisation as part of their Super Curriculum programme during the Autumn Term. First Give empowers students to create positive change in their local communities by partnering with local charities.
Over 30 students presented their work with various charities, highlighting the social issues they are passionate about. Their initiatives included food collections, wellbeing workshops, craft and sports activities, and awareness campaigns. Their presentations were full of enthusiasm and showcased their commitment to making a difference.
The judging panel, including the Mayor of Redbridge, had a tough time selecting the winners, with all groups demonstrating outstanding efforts. A special commendation was given to Jacob for his exceptional presentation.
Congratulations to Layaan, Praise, Charis, Xhesika, Aditi, and Gabrielle from 9R, who were selected as the winning team. Their chosen charity, Off Centre in Hackney, offers vital support services for young people aged 16-25. The prize money will significantly impact the charity’s resources, and they look forward to continuing their partnership with Oaks Park.
