GCSE & BTEC Results

Results day for GCSE and BTEC qualifications will take place on Thursday 22nd August 2024 in the school’s Sports Hall.

Results Collection

In order for the results day to run as smoothly as possible, we ask students to ensure that they follow the steps below:

  • Students will be provided with a set time to arrive at school (either 8.15am or 8.30am).
  • Please arrive at the allocated time and not before or after. This is to prevent a large number of students arriving all at once.
  • Students' arrival times will be sent to parents the evening before the results day, so please check your messages on this day.
  • Please enter the school using the gate on Oaks Lane only.
  • As students enter the school, they should use the outside path walking straight to the Basketball Court.
  • Once students have collected their results, they should exit via the nearest school car park gates.
  • Only students collecting examination results are permitted on site.

If a student is unable to come to collect their results in person, a family member can pick them up on their behalf, but they MUST have signed written permission from the student in order to receive the results and a form of photo ID. Please report to a member of staff at the front gate who will support you with this. Results not collected will be posted to the address we have on file. We are unable to email results.

Post Results Services

Please see an outline of post results services below. A booklet will also be provided to each student on results day. Please note that the school will only be open on the following dates to process these requests:

  • Thursday 15th and 16th August 2024
  • Thursday 22nd and 23rd August 2024

Service 1 (Clerical re-check)

  • Submit the request online.
  • Candidate consent is required and must be held on file by the centre
  • The request must be received by the awarding body by 26 September 2024.
  • The deadline for completion is within 10 calendar days of the awarding body receiving the request.

This service will include the following checks:

  • that all parts of the script have been marked;
  • the totalling of marks;
  •  the recording of marks.

The outcome of the clerical re-check will be reported along with a statement of the total marks awarded for each unit, or component, included in the enquiry. Service 1 clerical re-checks can only be requested for objective tests (multiple choice tests).

Review of Marking Procedures:

This is a post-results review of the original marking to ensure that the mark scheme has been applied correctly. A marking error can occur because of:

  • an administrative error;
  • a failure to apply the mark scheme where a task has only a ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ answer;
  • an unreasonable exercise of academic judgement.

The awarding body will train its reviewers to conduct reviews of marking accurately and consistently. Reviewers will not re-mark the script.They will only act to correct any errors identified in the original marking

The service is available for externally assessed components of both unitised and linear GCE and GCSE specifications.

  • Submit the request online.
  • Candidate consent is required and must be held on file by the centre
  • The request must be received by the awarding body by 26 September 2024.
  • The deadline for completion is within 20 calendar days of the awarding body receiving the request.

This service will include:

  • the clerical re-checks detailed in Service 1;
  • a review of marking as described above.

Post-16 Support

We appreciate that this is a critical time for many Year 11 students who have not yet decided on their next steps. To help support students with this key transition we have put the following resource together to aid with information about different post-16 qualifications and local institutions. This can be found here. A careers advisor will also be available for support on the GCSE results day.
