BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport is equivalent to 2 A Levels.
This qualification is aimed at students looking to progress to higher education in this sector.
|Assessment Methods / Teaching Methods and Resources
Students will need an enquiring mind and be willing to research and work independently both in school and at home. Personal study time after school will be needed in order to successfully complete assignments and meet set deadlines. Time management is a key skill and the importance of this is essential to the course. Students must be focused, willing to work independently as well as in groups. Students must be participating in sport competitively. There will be opportunities to participate in practical activities, coaching and analysing sport and organising sporting events.
All units are assessed and graded and all students must pass a set exam. There are four pass grades for this qualification, pass, merit, distinction and distinction*
The course is assessed using a combination of internal assessments, which are set and marked by teachers, and external assessments which are set and marked by Pearson. This includes a theory exam.

This qualification would suit a combination with many subjects. It offers many transferable skills, particular excellent combinations would include applied science, biology, business, sociology and psychology.

The qualification is designed to support progression to university or employment.
In addition to the sport sector-specific content students will also develop transferable and higher order skills that are highly regarded by higher education and employment.e.g communication, team working and leadership skills. The qualification carries UCAS points and when taken with another level 3 qualification is recognised by higher education providers as meeting admission requirements to many relevant sport or leisure degree courses, for example
