A group of year 12 health and Social care students have recently started working with Redbridge health watch on a new project aimed at gathering information on how communication needs can affect access to health and social care services in the borough.
Healthwatch are based in Ilford and play an important role at both national and local level making sure that the views of the public and people who use health and social care services are taken into account
During half term the students spent a day at the offices of healthwatch preparing interview questions and on Wednesday of half term they spent the day at school with six service users who have specific communication needs e.g sensory impairment, delayed cognitive ability etc. They interviewed each person and having recorded the interview, they will then edit these videos to produce an 8 minute clip which will be put on the Redbridge website.
