On Wednesday 7th February 2018, we were very lucky to welcome ex-student
Jordan Sumray back to the school to talk to students about his experiences
of education and employment. Jordan currently works for SecureWorks, a
Global Managed Security Services Provider, part of Dell, and their goal is
to make the internet a safer place for organisations to do business.
Jordan’s job role is a Cyber Security Sales Specialist, so it is his job to
sell services to businesses of all sizes and industries, making sure that
they are protected from being hacked by cybercriminals!
Jordan spoke to a packed group of Key Stage 4 and 5 students about his
decision to leave both Sixth Form and University early and to pursue
employment in his early 20s. He spoke passionately about the importance of
not giving up on your goals, and explained that success often only comes
because of a great amount of hard work, dedication and indeed facing
failures and setbacks. Jordan made it clear that you need to overcome
adversity when it comes to achieving your goals.
The students asked a range of very interesting questions, including what
made Jordan interested in his current field of work and also how he managed
to afford to buy a house at such a young age!
The fact that Oaks Park is able to host these types of career talks is
indicative of the links that we forge with ex-students, and highlights the
success we have made in developing an active alumni network within the
