We are very excited to confirm that, following an intensive campaign across the London Borough of Redbridge, two of our students were successful in their attempts to gain election to the National Youth Parliament. Faizan in 8U was elected MYP, meaning that he will be one of two students representing the borough at national events. This outstanding achievement was matched by Yahya in 8U who received enough votes to have been elected Deputy MYP for the borough. Both students were up against 10 other candidates from across Redbridge schools so the fact that were both successful is an excellent result.
Faizan campaigned on encouraging young people to care for the environment, raising awareness of hate crime and to campaign against knife crime. Yahya campaigned for more trees in Redbridge, increasing a focus on ending homelessness and stopping gang violence.
Both students will now also be integral in leading the borough’s Youth Council and
will act as a mouthpiece for the young people of Redbridge and represent their views at the Youth Parliament.
