On Friday 21st June 2019, Oaks Park High School was very excited to learn that we had been successful in obtaining the Gender Initiator Action Award. This follows on from our success in being announced as a supporter school earlier in the year. To gain this award, the school has to go through a rigorous application process, where we had to submit a detailed plan outlining how we would challenge gender stereotypes within our careers programme. This also enables us to meet our obligations for Gatsby Benchmark 2 of overcoming stereotypes.
Gaining this award shows our commitment to ensure that we continue to emphasise the significance of the protected characteristics at our school and promote equality and diversity at all levels.
The feedback for our application was excellent, with the auditors stating that our application required no changes and was one of the best that they had seen. The next stage of the award is for the school to submit further evidence to become a Champion School. We look forward to keeping you updated on this matter.
