Open evening was a huge success. It was a fantastic representation of what makes our school special. The two welcome speeches in the hall were very well received, especially when our head students interviewed five of our Y7 students on their perspective of our transition process.
Staff and students made a tremendous effort to showcase their departments. There was lots of fun, engaging activities for all to be part of. The English department looked great with a very eerie ‘gothic’ theme. In the Science department guests had ‘methane bubbles’ fire balls in their hands as well as doing many more practical activities. In the History department the children were able to dress up for reenactment. In food technology, guests made wok noodles to take home and pieces of felt in textiles. Any many more subjects areas displayed their KS3 and KS4 courses, subject specifications, assessment information textbooks and student’s work.
We had a fantastic team of tour guides made up of Y12 prefects and Y8 ambassadors to lead guests around the school. both teachers and students were on hand to answer any questions. Feedback from prospective students and parents was overwhelmingly positive. We look forward to them joining us in September!
